Ground Transportation

From Chicago Airports

Chicago is served by two airports: O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport. O’Hare is 17 miles northwest and Midway is 10 miles southwest of downtown, where the conference is held.

Airport Shuttle Service

Go Airport Express provides discounted airport shuttle service for conference attendees. Shuttles can be picked up curbside at both airports and depart every 15 minutes, and they drop off at all downtown hotels. Go Airport Express will also arrange exclusive transportation service for groups.

The discounted fares per person for HLC’s conference attendees are as follows:

O’Hare

Midway

Arrival (one-way) $30.80

$26.30

Departure (one-way) $28.80

$24.30

Round trip

$59.60

$50.60

All fares include a $2 per person airport departure tax. Make reservations online to receive the discounted rates.

It is recommended that attendees schedule their return trip to the airport approximately three hours prior to their airplane departure. At the Hyatt Regency Chicago, return shuttles to both airports can be picked up from the West Tower Lobby. Advance reservations are required. The O’Hare shuttle departs the hotel every 30 minutes, beginning at 4:05 a.m. and ending with the last pickup at 10:30 p.m. The Midway shuttle can be picked up at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour, beginning at 6:15 a.m. and ending with the last pickup at 6:45 p.m.

Taxi Cabs

Estimated costs for a cab between the airport and downtown are $30–$40 to or from O’Hare and $28–$30 to or from Midway. Individual travelers can also choose to share a taxi from the airport to downtown for a flat rate of $24 per person from O’Hare or $18 per person from Midway.

Chicago Transit Authority

Rapid transit trains operate between the airports and downtown Chicago for $5 from O’Hare and $2.25 from Midway. CTA terminals are located inside both airports, approximately five to ten minutes from the baggage claim areas. To get to the Hyatt from O’Hare, take the Blue Line to the Clark/Lake stop; from Midway, take the Orange Line to the State/Lake stop. The Hyatt is approximately a half-mile walk from either station. Visit the CTA website for directions to the alternate hotels.

Driving and Parking

The Hyatt Regency Chicago provides maps and directions for those driving to the Conference.

Parking is available in both towers of the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Conference attendees are eligible for a 50 percent discount on parking.

Hyatt guests: The discounted rates should appear per day on your hotel bill. You do not need a discount ticket. Please check with the hotel registration desk if the rate is not properly reflected on your bill. Once you have paid for parking, you will have in and out privileges throughout the duration of your stay.

Non-Hyatt guests: To receive the reduced rate, you will need one discount ticket for each day you park. Pick up discount tickets at the Registration Desk or the Information Desk located in the Grand Ballroom Foyer or at the Regency Information Desk located in the Regency Ballroom Foyer.

When you are ready to pick up your car, scan your parking card first and then the discount ticket.

Important note for non-Hyatt guests: Do not pay for your parking upon arrival. You will not be able to use the discount ticket if you have prepaid for your parking.

Parking discounts are also available to attendees staying at alternate hotels.
